Ladder (2022); acrylic on canvas
Painted by the artist, J . Bonegard in 2022, using acrylic on canvas.
It measures 30" x 48"
This artwork speaks to the ever-present fascination of toddlers with heights and their dog ged determination to find every possible means to ascend whatever peak is in their vicinity.
From falling off table tops, to rolling off unguarded adult beds, and other unpleasant, sometimes traumatic scenarios, children have a way of breaking barriers, exceeding and surprising adults in their adventures.
I guess it’s one other aspect of the superiority of a child over adults, especially in possessing a curiosity, powered by the desire to explore and not readily give up.
That of imagination and language comprehension come first and second.
A closer look at this piece of work tells what a balanced demonstration of intent and spontaneity it is, giving the observer a sense of care-free play, as well as that of serious contemplation.
As with other works in the ongoing ‘Baby Talk’ series, I will continue to explore the use of primary colors in a bed of black and white.
Do not be confused by the sculptural look of the canvas, since the artist chose to capture the image well before the paint became dry.

Reflections (2021/22); acrylic on canvas
Reflections — New Year (2021/2022) by J. Bonegard
Painted by the artist, J . Bonegard in 2021/2022, using oil and acrylic on canvas.
A diptych, each piece measuring 12" by 36".With the birth of a new year, the years gone by take a new meaning.
The sentiment, though personal, is universal to all, bringing back a wave of emotions, of memories, desirable and otherwise, and the occasional nostalgia for an experience that is no more.
To many, the first day of the new year is just another day, simply a roll-over of the struggles of the prior year, and a compounding of the burden of life.
To others, a real awakening is born, a chance to write a new page of life, of purpose and of meaning. It is this gift of awakening that we must all seek, irrespective of the struggles that lie ahead, knowing that within each and every one of us is the will — of meaning, and the ability to overcome, even the impossible.
Of all the wishes that you may desire for the new year, a renewal of self is paramount, with which comes the wisdom to live every hour to the fullest.Beyond the celebration of a new year, let us reflect on those things that matter — faith, family, friends, and neighbors.
We should also remember our planet — earth. All these things we should put ahead of our basic strive for survival, recognition, and for success.May your wishes for the new year manifest as you desire.

LUCKY NUMBERS | F- ART SERIES (2021) | ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
Painted by the artist, J. Bonegard, in 2021, using acrylic on canvas.
It measures 36" x 36".
Works of arts, in their possessiveness, are often associated with fortune, but what about the fortune that the mere observation of a work of art may bestow on the viewer?
These were the thoughts associated with the origin of the F-Art series, or as explained by the artist, Fortune-Art series.
Pioneered by the artist, F-Art is a unique variant of abstract art where the imagery is worked and explored for its alchemist influences.
Not distant from the artist's fascination with lines and angles of geometric art, numbers are an integral part of Fortune-Arts.
With the limitless possibilities of the works that is inherent to this series, the artist explained the expanded scope of work that comes with this dimension.
It has also powered an aspect of studio art practice that provided the artist with the added luxury of spontaneity and randomness.
According to the artist, what is depicted on the canvas, like other images of the Fortune-Art series, has the potential to invite fortune into the life of the beholder.
