Balancing Act - The Body (2020) by J. Bonegard (18"x24")

This work is one part of a three-part series, “Balancing Act: The Body, Mind, and Soul.

The series is an exploration of the struggle to maintain a balanced existence on earth amongst the forces that constantly pull in different directions.

Each piece of artwork is rooted in the physical and non-physical, ultimately reflecting that every step we take is conditional on the stability of the world we inhabit.

The various colors on display borrow from the view that the human body is a composite of many colors, where each color interacts with the others to maintain healthy equilibrium.

While the series is open to interpretation as all good artworks are, the artist’s intent is to draw the viewer’s attention to the physical body.

It is also a reminder that, for our physical bodies to be in balance, our spiritual realm has to be stable.
